Lilly Engel
Lilly Engel is one of those characters who give the newer seasons of Frühling a younger, fresher face. She is a village home helper, a roommate, a partner, and long since a whole lot more than just the new girl at Katja's side.
Lilly is played by Julia Willecke, whom a lot of people first knew under her stage name Julia Beautx. What started as a small role grew over the years into a fixed part of the ensemble.
Who Lilly Engel really is
Lilly Engel is a village home helper at the Hand in Hand agency and belongs to the younger generation in the cast. She lives closer to everyday village life than many of the other characters, and that is exactly what gives her a special angle on the story: less distance, more of the here and now.
Unlike some characters who arrive in Frühling and have to find their footing first, Lilly is rooted in the town. Frühling is not just a setting for her, it is home. You can feel that in her, in the way she deals with people and in how naturally she is part of the village.
At the same time, Lilly is a character in whom you can really watch someone grow up. She starts out as a young woman with little experience and grows step by step into more responsibility, both professionally and personally.
From a bit part to a regular
When Julia Willecke auditioned for the role in 2017, Lilly was only meant to be a small part. But that entrance quickly turned into something bigger. The character got more room, more relationships, and steadily larger storylines.
That is exactly what makes Lilly so interesting. You can genuinely feel her development across the series. The young intern and beginner became a dependable presence at the home helper agency and one of the show's leading female characters alongside Katja.
Julia Willecke once said that she and Lilly grew up at pretty much the same time. And you can see that in the character too. She does not change in sudden leaps but believably, one step at a time.
Between love, work, and family
One of the most important threads running through Lilly's story is her relationship with Adrian Steinmann. In the newer seasons the two of them are the show's young couple. Their story is no easy fairy-tale romance, though. It is shaped by rough patches, breakups, and the effort of finding their way back to each other.
At the same time, Lilly keeps growing into a solid role in her work at the home helper agency. She is long past being just backup and has become a character who helps carry the everyday life of the series.
One especially emotional arc in seasons 14 and 15 is her search for her father. After he left the family and hit rock bottom, he eventually vanishes without a trace. That gives Lilly an added depth that reaches well beyond the love story with Adrian.
In season 15 you notice that Lilly only shows up here and there. Part of that is because Julia Willecke was working on a new series at the same time. For the character herself, though, it is not a goodbye. She stays part of Frühling.
Julia Willecke, a.k.a. Julia Beautx
Julia Willecke was born in 1999 in Germany's Ruhr region and first made her name under the stage name Julia Beautx. Already as a teenager she built a huge following on YouTube with lifestyle content, DIYs, and a strong presence on social media.
Later came more big milestones: a Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award, Let's Dance, hosting gigs, and several acting projects. These days she works as an actress under her real name, Julia Willecke.
That makes her important to Frühling in more ways than one. She is not just the actress behind a central character but also a reach magnet for a younger audience that traditional TV channels alone would barely touch.
Why Lilly has become so important to the show
Lilly Engel stands for renewal within Frühling. She brings a younger generation into the series without breaking its tone. That is a rare thing, and it is exactly why she works.
Together with Adrian, she carries part of the more serialized, newer storylines. At the same time, through Katja and the home helper agency, she stays tightly tied to the heart of the show.
That makes Lilly more than just an add-on to the cast. She has long since become a character without whom the newer seasons would feel noticeably different.
Lilly Engel in the series
Lilly has been part of Frühling since season 7 and has grown from a small role into a fixed member of the ensemble.
Between social media and the world of the show
Julia Willecke is more to Frühling than just a young actress. With several million followers, she brings along an audience that reaches far beyond the classic TV crowd. That is exactly why Lilly Engel also plays a special part in how the show is seen. She connects the traditional Herzkino world with a younger audience that often only discovers Frühling through social media in the first place.
